The fabric used for the Soft Wind trousers is organic cotton. The organic cotton is grown in Benin, Tanzania and India. The fabric is designed in Paris, France. Spinning, weaving, dyeing and washing of the fabric is done in La Loire, France. The fabric is GOTS certified, which means it includes strict environmental and social criteria for operations along the entire supply chain.
All of our clothing is made to order, so that there is no deadstock left. We don’t want to produce more things to the world that there is no use for. Our production happens in-house. That means less transportation, no back and forth with a factory. Everything from the patterns to the sewing is done under one roof.
To minimize fabric waste the scraps left over from cutting are repurposed for hair scrunchies. The very smallest bits we gather up and donate to be repurposed too so no fabric ends up on landfills. We make sure to minimize waste in all the materials we use in the studio. We recycle all the paper, cardboard and occasional unavoidable plastic. A lot of the studio equipment we have is bought second hand, like the machines and furniture. We send the items in plastic-free packaging. Our packing materials are recycled and/or recyclable. We encourage the customer to then recycle the packing materials too.
5% of each purchase goes to help animal sanctuaries. We have personally visited these places and witnessed the amazing work they do to help animals in need. Find out more HERE.
