Description
The Nothing in life is to be feared necklace in sterling silver is a quote from Marie Curie. Marie Skłodowska Curie (1867-1934) was a Polish and naturalised French scientist who made breakthroughs in both chemistry and physics. Born in the Russian Empire, her education often fell prey to sways in national politics. After seeking the highest possible learning in Poland she moved to Paris and earned two degrees at the Sorbonne. Radioactivity, new elements, and new isolation methods constituted her groundbreaking scientific discoveries. These advances made her the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person to win two, and the only ever to win prizes in two different fields. She died aged 66 due to exposure to radiation, but her scientific achievements remain ever present today.
