Description
The Laura dress in yellow is made out of rescued 100% cotton fabric. The fabric is an off cut from a Finnish furniture company and only 42cm wide, so it is perfect for the Laura Dress. It is an off cut from furniture production that we have reused. The fabric is also oeko-tex certified.
Rescue fabric is also known as pre-consumer waste or post-industrial waste. It is the material left over from the production of products. The material can be cutting leftovers, roll ends, overproduction or otherwise rejected materials. What unites these waste forms is that it never ends up to the consumer and is therefore never seen by the public. There is always 10-30% of the fabric that is cut away and discarded during the cutting process. These rejected or leftover materials are not damaged in anyway, but are too small for certain industries such as the furniture industry to use. It is however great for brands like us, who can utilise this fabric.
Our buttons are made of mother of pearl. The button factory uses renewable energy. The button maker, is certified by WCA (Workplace Conditions Assessment). Their mother of pearl buttons are Ecocrest certified and made of wild trochus pearls from Vietnam.
The Maker follows a slow fashion philosophy first and foremost. We value quality over quantity and do not follow the outdated seasons of the fashion industry. Instead, we introduce small capsule collections when there is demand and focus on lasting, timeless design, colour and materials. We do not remove items from our collections, because there is no such thing as out of date or out of season for us. Some of our designs may be reintroduced multiple times and stay in our roster for years.
